.50 cal possible ban question
 

A friend recently purchased a grizzly big bore .50 cal via private sale and had a few questions. If a ban were to take place what exactly would happen? Would they attempt to track down people who own them and reposess them? Would they become illegal to sell? I guess he was just wondering if they would be grandfathered in or not and what the stipulations would possibly be? Do you guys think they will even ever become outlawed? PS. I live in upstate NY

The govt could reclassify .50BMG weapons as Destructive Devices, requiring BATF registration for ownership/transfer. That's what happened with the Street Sweeper shotgun. If you owned one without registration after the cutoff date, you were in violation of yet another federal rule (probably along the lines of owning an unregistered full auto weapon).

All the above could happen.

More than likely, they would just be made illegal to manufacture.
